May 22 opportunity for Class of 68

May 9, 2018 by Mark Gallagher (Register to contact)

I wanted you to be aware of this rather last-minute event. Following is from an email I sent to the steering committee following my meeting with Kalani Principal Mitch Otani. Several are planning to participate so far.
Aloha, Mark Gallagher '68
Hi,
It took a while but I was able to meet (for 75 minutes) with principal Mitchell "Mitch" Otani on Thursday. He seems to have done a lot of good things for Kalani in his 8 years as principal. By way of background, he is a Kalani '72 grad and two of his sisters are grads ('69 and, I believe, '71). Sharon Yoshimura is his cousin.

1. When we met, the first thing he wanted to talk about was Kalani's graduation on Tuesday May 22 at 6:30 at the Blaisdell. He has a special VIP program for 50th reunion classes that includes:
o A private room Principal's reception at 4:30 with catered food
o Free parking ticket
o A lei, a Kalani Falcons coffee mug and polo shirt (see attachment) - but no small sizes and maybe no medium (I need to check) size shirts left
o Reserved ceremony seating in the row behind the Kalani staff
Rei, his Student Activities Coordinator, needs a head count by next Friday, the 11th, to guarantee a free parking pass. I believe the deadline for the Principal's reception and reserved seating is a week later.

If you are interested, let me know and I will coordinate with Rei.
